The darsan time at Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple was extended in
view of the increased flow of pilgrims, on Saturday. Thantri Kandararu
Rajeevaru, who takes the final decision of the temple rituals and
practices, said that the sreekovil of the temple will be opened at 3 am
instead of 4 am in the mand remain opened till 1.30 pm.
In the afternoon, the nada will be reopened at 3 pm instead of 4 pm and will remain open for darsan till 11.30 pm, Rajeevaru said. There was a heavy rush of pilgrims, especially those from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The jampacked queue had reached till Marakottam, forcing the pilgrims to wait for six to seven hours in queue for darsan. The temple premises, including the fly-over and the four sides of the sreekovil were flooded with pilgrims.
The queue at Valiyanadapandal continues to remain flooded with pilgrims round the clock.
The police were forced to block many points at Pampa and the trekking path to control the pilgrims.
