Sahasrakalasam Held at Sabarimala



SABARIMALA: Sahasrakalasam was held at Lord Ayyappa temple on the second day of the Vishu festival on Sunday.

Thantri Kandararu Rajivaru in the presence of Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri conducted the kalasa pooja at Sopanam on the south of the Sreekovil at 7 pm on Saturday.

Kalasabhishekam was conducted by the thantri on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during Uchcha pooja. Kalabhabhishekam was the other special ritual conducted at the temple.

As part of the ritual, the thantri conducted Brahmakalasa pooja in the presence of the melsanthi at the Mandapam of the temple at 10.30 am. Kalabhabhishekam, marking the conclusion of the ritual, was held during Uchcha pooja after the procession carrying the Brahmakalasam by the melsanthi circumambulating the Sreekovil.Udayasthamana pooja, Pushpabhishekam and Padi pooja were the other rituals held at the temple.

Vishukani Darshan

Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer V S Jayakumar said preparations have been completed for the Vishukani darsan of Lord Ayyappa for the devotees at 4 am on April 15. Thantri Rajeevaru and Melsanthi Krishnadas Nampoothiri would offer ‘Vishukaineettam’ to the devotees after the Vishukani darshan, he said.

Laksharchana, Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam would be the special rituals to be conducted on the Vishu day. Udayasthamana pooja, Pushpabhishekam and Padi pooja would be the other rituals to be held at the temple on that day. The temple will be closed on April 19, marking the conclusion of the ten-day Vishu festival, after Athazha pooja and Hariavarasanam at 10 pm.
