Local Ayyappa temple is getting ready to arrange Makara Darsanam on January 15. This was announced by committee members Jakkampudi Vijayalaskhmi, Thota Subbarao, and Challa Sankarrao ata press conference here on Monday.
They said that three lights would be lighted on January 15 on the top of the temple which is called Makara Jyothi on the lines of Sabarimala. They said that the sacred ornaments (Thiruvabharanams) of Lord Ayyappa would be taken in a procession before the Makara Jyothi festival from Gokavaram bus stand to Ayyappa temple. The committee said that after the temple inaugurated in last March, 1.76 lakh devotees had darsan and daily 700 people were having their lunch under Nitya Annadanam programme.
The committee said that they wanted to conduct Ganapati Homam on a daily basis as it was being done in Sabarimala. They sought the support of the devotees for the development of the temple. Committee members Polasanapalli Hanumantha Rao and Immandi Mohana Rao also participated in the press meet.
